Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Customs & Compliance Manager to oversee customs clearance, import/export compliance, and regulatory activities. The candidate will ensure that all shipments and trade operations comply with applicable customs regulations, documentation requirements, and company policies while minimizing delays and compliance risks.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage customs clearance and compliance activities for import and export shipments.
* Ensure compliance with applicable UAE customs regulations and international trade requirements.
* Coordinate with customs authorities, customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping companies, and government agencies.
* Review and verify customs and trade documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
* Monitor HS code classification, customs duties, taxes, and applicable import/export requirements.
* Ensure accurate and timely submission of customs declarations and supporting documents.
* Identify and resolve customs clearance issues, documentation discrepancies, shipment delays, and compliance concerns.
* Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and compliance documentation.
* Monitor changes in customs regulations and communicate relevant updates to internal teams.
* Conduct periodic reviews and audits of customs and import/export transactions.
* Identify potential compliance risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain customs and trade compliance procedures and internal controls.
* Work closely with procurement, logistics, finance, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure smooth trade operations.
* Train and guide employees on customs procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements.
* Prepare customs and compliance reports for management and recommend process improvements.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
* 0 to 5+ years of experience in customs, import/export, trade compliance, logistics, or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of UAE customs procedures and import/export documentation.
* Good understanding of HS codes, customs duties, customs declarations, and clearance procedures.
* Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government authorities.
* Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and compliance activities.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and relevant customs/logistics systems.
